Adele’s new album not due for a few years

By on October 17, 2012

[DS]: Adele is not expected to release a new album “for some years”, her record label has predicted.

The singer has not started work on the follow-up to her multimillion-selling second set 21 and is unlikely to return to the studio any time soon, according to her label XL Recordings.

The music label recently registered £41.7 million in profit in 2011 following the enormous success of Adele’s latest album, but insisted that those figures will not be achievable every year.

“The next Adele album may not come for some years, and it’s impossible to predict its likely sales,” a spokesperson for XL Recording told The New York Times.

“We therefore regard this year’s figures as exceptional.”

Adele’s 21 has sold over 24m copies since its release in January 2011 and helped boost XL Recordings’s bank balance from £3m to £32m in a year.
