Muse brush off plagiarism claims

Muse have rejected claims that they plagiarised another person’s work for a song on their 2009 album The Resistance.
The band have been handed a $3.5 million (£2.2m) lawsuit by Charles Bolfrass, who insists the group stole his idea for a cinematic science-fiction rock opera.
Bolfrass claims that he approached Muse seven years ago with the idea to write the opera, but the band allegedly rejected the project, reports Metro.
However, four years later Muse included ‘Exogenesis: Symphony Part 1′, ‘Exogenesis: Symphony Part 2′ and ‘Exogenesis: Symphony Part 3′ on their previous album The Resistance, with ‘Exogenesis’ being the title for Bolfrass’s opera.
The musician also claims that the album’s artwork was stolen from his storyboards for the project.
“The claim is complete nonsense and is categorically denied,” a spokesperson for Muse said. “It appears to be based on a screenplay the band never received or saw.”
