Anna Piaggi found dead
Fashion Journalist, Anna Piaggi, best known for her contributions to Vogue Italia, was found dead today (7th August) in her Milan home. She was 81 years old.
Vogue Italia editor Franca Sozzani was among a few to tweet their tributes this afternoon - ”23 years of working together, thousands of D.P. [Doppie Pagine - double-page spreads] realised together. You will always be remembered Anna”

A king pin of the fashion world as well as perhaps one of its most recognisable faces, Anna Piaggi was best known for her unpredictable and awe-inspiring double page spreads in Vogue Italia, which are thought to be one of the centrepiece’s of the magazine. She was renowned worldwide as a style-icon with her flamboyant clothes, electric blue hair and even brighter painted lips.
Piaggi was born in Milan and it was there that she began her career as a translator for publishing house The Mondadori Group, where she met her late husband – photographer Alfa Castaldi. Her career involves working for Arianna, Vanity and Panorama before joining Vogue Italia in the sixties, which stood to be her longest running collaboration. She has become an inspiration for an array of designers including, from Manolo Blahnik and Karl Lagerfeld to Stephen Jones and the Dolce & Gabbana designers.
