Adam Levine: ‘I deserve my success’

[DS] The Voice coach Adam Levine has insisted that he has earned his success.

The Maroon 5 singer spoke candidly about his place in the music industry in an interview with USA Today this week.

“I have a high self-opinion – I don’t need to hide that. I don’t need to be self-deprecating,” Levine explained. “I do believe that I deserve what I have. I don’t think I’m entitled to it. That’s a big difference.”

Levine went on to say that he gets annoyed when celebrities try to pass themselves off in cooking and advice books as being just like the general populace.

“It’s ridiculous. It’s too much. Can you just be a millionaire?” he joked. “My mum told me a long time ago – she didn’t know she was giving me this advice – but she said, ‘All I know is, you’ll never change, so you’d better get somebody to take care of your room and get a housekeeper’.

“That was burned into my skull, ‘Must make money so I don’t have to do my chores, because I wouldn’t do them anyway’. It’s sweet that I don’t have to do my laundry.”
