David Beckham: ‘Stone Roses bring back happy memories’
[DS] David Beckham has spoken of his excitement about seeing The Stone Roses perform.
The Los Angeles Galaxy footballer is known to be a big fan of the Manchester band, who kicked off their 27-date European tour earlier this month, their first in 16 years.
The band will play the first of a three-night residency at their local Heaton Park tomorrow night (June 29).
Beckham praised the band in the official programme for the Heaton Park gigs, saying that they give him good memories.
The Sun reports that he commented: “The Stone Roses was part of my upbringing in Manchester. And being an East End boy, that’s saying something.
“Their music has inspired so many people but for me it brings back memories of the most happiest time in my football career, when I started my career at Manchester United.
“The fact that they are back is incredible to see.”
David Beckham is said to have played a major role in getting The Stone Roses to perform.
The band’s tour will also include a headline spot at V Festival in Chelmsford and Staffordshire.
