The Sony SmartWatch has landed on our shores (it debuted last month in the UK), providing capability for email, texting and social network updates on a 1.3-inch OLED touch display attached to a sporty rubber strap. The device syncs up with any smartphone running Android 2.1 or higher, using a Bluetooth 3 connection and a free app from the Google Play Store. At present there are 30 mini-apps that allow the SmartWatch to operate essentially as a remote control for your Android smartphone. The Sony SmartWatch is priced at $150, with colored armbands available for $20 a pop. It’s available in stores now, or directly through Sony. [from FM]
